About this opportunity
The Quality Manager ensures customer satisfaction through the efficient production of superior quality products by leading the development, deployment, and oversight of the Quality Management. Drive continuous improvements and contribute to verification assessments that provide roadmaps to a total quality and performance culture. Directly engage with all quality and production personnel to gain a good understanding of workplace realities, as well as technical and production issues. This role requires an individual who enjoys a hands-on technical and functional leadership approach. Additionally, at times, this role will require customer facing meetings and calls.

What you will do
- Manages quality activities to support the printing and extrusion production departments.
- Develops customer and supplier relationships, both internal and external, to assure Customer and key performance indicators are met.
- Plans and assigns work, enforces policy and procedures, and responsible for development and management of the site production Quality technicians.
- Utilizing cross functional teams, analyzes and investigates the root cause of customer returns and or complaints and develop and implement effective corrective and preventive actions. Responds to customer complaints in a timely fashion with the CAPA.
- Uses data collection, statistical analyses, and presentations (i.e. SPC, pareto charting, process capability along with analysis internal and external defects) to drive data-based decision making and opportunity prioritization.
- Recommends improvements in production methods, interfaces with quality auditors (SQF, ILDPH) and customers, and participates in team activities. Effectively raises concerns and sets the cultural tone for quality conscious workplace.
- Ensures all products conform to specifications and tracks and communicates with suppliers if discrepant material is found.
- Manages department performance and provide communication to management team members on all levels. Generates annual Management review in conjunction with the General Manager.
- Manages daily goal setting to minimize customer complaints and credits issued.
- Monitors department performance and ensures barriers are identified and actions assigned. Performs employee reviews annually or as needed.
- Manages training and development to ensure proper skill level throughout the quality department and other areas as needed.
- Develops quality assurance training programs and conducts training on quality procedures and systems annually to all personnel.
- Supports and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards.
- Degree from accredited 4-year college or university. Technical degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Working knowledge of color theory and flexographic printing and slitting preferred.
- Experience and extensive knowledge of HACCP and SQF, GMP’s, SOP’s, a plus.
- Proficient using Statistics, SPC, TQM, Problem Solving Techniques.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office operation systems.
- Strong leadership, managerial and communication abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
