Position: Quality Technician I
Location: Memphis, TN (Ragan Street)
Wage: $24.04
Shift: 2nd shift position (3:00 p. – 11:00 p.)
While reporting directly to the Plant Quality Manager, the following job description outlines the essential functions of each level of role within the tooling department. The following lists are not exhaustive, and the employee in each of these roles is expected to assume any and all duties assigned by management irrespective of whether such duties are specifically included in the following.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Maintains data collection systems and detailed paper or computerized filing systems for records containing manufacturing data, traceability information, pest control, product safety, material Certificates of Analysis, and other documentation pertinent to the manufacturing site.
- Maintains, updates, initiates, and controls all plant specific manufacturing specifications.
- Ensures all retain samples and quality records, both physical and electronic, are maintained in accordance to the record retention standard instructions.
- Completes Certificate of Analysis (COA) and/or Certificate of Compliance (COC) forms by obtaining manufacturing quality data from the computer system to demonstrate that the products meet the Customer’s specifications.
- Performs audits in house and/or returned non-conforming products by following an approved sampling plan to measure for defective products and make recommendations for disposition. This includes managing the quality portion of the HFI process to ensure returns authorizations are accounted for and kept current.
- As assigned, performs intensive studies and on-going test projects, such as capability studies, equipment validations, raw material and finished good trials, scrap studies, and design of experiments.
- Trains new employees in quality standards during orientation sessions. Trains new employees in defect recognition and general quality procedures and provides refresher courses for current employees. Also, educates existing employees on new procedures and process changes.
- Manages and Maintains the Calibration program at the facility by keeping a log or computer program containing calibration data, including dates, identification numbers, owners and locations, for future references.
- Takes the lead on investigating and completing Corrective Action Requests (CARs).
- Completes Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) in response to defective incoming raw materials to notify suppliers of defects. Forward SCARs to suppliers along with samples of defective materials for review and response from the supplier. Notifies appropriate personnel about the disposition of defective raw materials by forwarding final copies of documentation.
- Ensures test equipment remains in working order by checking, cleaning, and providing general maintenance as needed.
- Perform Mock Recalls to validate the traceability system by following through with a simulated defective material scenario.
- Champions the 100% inspection equipment to ensure it is working properly and standards are set to required parameters for optimal use. Willingness to understand, modify, and monitor scans for all rejects on the Vision System is a must.
- Utilize basic troubleshooting skills; be able to minimize downtime in production without compromising the quality and integrity of the product produced.
- Work with Quality Manager(s) to ensure Food Defense Program is in place and effective throughout the facility.
