Advanced Decision Vectors, LLC (ADV) is seeking a Radiological/Nuclear Product Development and Incident Response Expert to provide contracted support to the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, DC. The mission of BARDA is to develop and procure medical countermeasures (MCM) that address the public health and medical consequences of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) accidents, incidents and attacks, pandemic influenza, and emerging infectious diseases. Specifically, BARDA supports the advanced development and procurement of drugs, vaccines and other products that are considered priorities for national health security.
Responsibilities are but not limited to:
- Provide subject matter expertise (SME) from discovery through regulatory licensure for development of radiological/nuclear medical countermeasures and diagnostics as they apply to MCM use
- Provide SME support for BARDA’s input in development of regulatory strategy and clinical guidelines for use in mass casualty events.
- Provide primary SME support to BARDA’s Radiological/Nuclear portfolio
- Provide SME support for BARDA RN Targeted Natural history program for further definition of pathophysiology associated with exposure to acute ionizing radiation and advise on selection of next product development targets for mitigation of radiation injury.
- Provide SME support for BARDA input in ASPR planning efforts for incident response for radiological/nuclear incidents.
- Provide SME support as the Managing Editor of the Radiological Emergency Medical Management website as required.
- Support BARDA’s expanding collaborations with FDA, NIH, DOD, and other interagency partners in defining, aligning and driving future strategies, emerging areas of related science, evolving regulatory strategy, innovation from related fields and critical partnerships necessary to realize successful research and development of new solutions for radiological injuries
- Provide senior advisor support to BARDA RN Branch and BARDA front office during actual radiological events and preparedness exercises
Requirements:
- Subject matter expert with twenty (20) years of experience in radiation biology, health physics, or radiation oncology
- Understanding of R&D approaches, regulatory expectations and future clinical uses required
- Experience in public health service or response activities
- Specific experience in planning and preparedness efforts for radiological/nuclear incident response
- Accomplished matrix leadership skills, inquisitive scientific thought process, natural collaborative instincts, sound interpersonal relationship skills and a strong communication presence are necessary for success in this role.
