Job Summary:

The Functional Area Specialist NH3 serves as the point person for the care, maintenance and continued operability of the production support equipment specific to the individual’s area of expertise. Performs all types of preventive maintenance in accordance to the PM Program and overall maintenance including cleaning, adjustments, lubrication, and minor modifications and/or repair of equipment. This person is also responsible for the care, maintenance and continued operability of the Ammonia Refrigeration, Water Utilities, HVAC, and support utilities in accordance with quality specifications, federal guidelines and company policies. The person is also responsible for training Technician level and Specialist level mechanics as assigned.

Essential Functions:

• Working alone or with other mechanics to perform preventative and daily maintenance checks and services on plant utility equipment as scheduled.This person serves as point person for specific area of expertise and oversee the Specialist, Technician mechanics, and contractors’ work.
• Maintain and is accountable for all assigned equipment and tools.
• Report to and coordinate work duties with Utility Supervisor.
• Coordinate the purchase of needed repair parts with the maintenance parts room clerks with approval from Utilities Supervisor.
• Be available for emergency repair of equipment.
• Responsible for training of Technician level and Specialist level mechanics.
• Communicate maintenance concerns and questions of operability with other members of the Utilities team and management.
• Work on ladders, scaffolds, fork trucks, electric/manual pallet jacks, man lifts, and other related equipment and or devices in a safe manner at all times.
• Follow all appropriate safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices, and procedures required for these and similar tasks.

Other Job Duties:

• All other duties as assigned by Utility Supervisor.

Qualification Requirements:

• All mechanics are required to wear fire rated uniforms and garments at all times.

Mental

• High school diploma or equivalent (2 year technical college degree preferred).
• Ability to comprehend and communicate in Basic English and interact with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to analyze data and draw logical conclusions with minimal guidance, and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Strong ability to work independently or with others.

Skill and Knowledge

• Minimum experience at the Specialist level.
• Demonstrates a high degree of self-motivation, performs assigned duties with a minimum amount of supervision or guidance.
• Aware of the location of all shop equipment, tools, and services.

Physical Demands:

• Manually lifts up to fifty (50) pound objects, uses proper equipment and devices to safely lift heavier objects.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $31.89 per hour
