Catawba Hospital, selected as Employer of the Year by Goodwill Industries of the Valleys in 2021, is located in Catawba approximately 15 miles from Roanoke, Virginia. Catawba Hospital is a JCAHO accredited inpatient psychiatric facility with 110 beds that provides comprehensive mental-health services including assessment, treatment, and discharge planning. The Hospital located in Roanoke County, serves adults, ages 18 – 64, and geriatric adults, ages 64 and older. Individualized treatment is provided through interdisciplinary teams, which include: psychiatry, internal medicine, nursing, social work, psychology, adjunctive therapy, pharmacy, and dietary services. Off-unit programs in a newly-designed treatment mall emphasize psychiatric rehabilitation, recovery from mental illness, and re-integration into the community. Catawba is a highly-respected teaching hospital affiliated with several local colleges, as well as, the University of Virginia School of Medicine.

Part-time positions, choice of shifts are available for licensed RNs interested in caring for adult and/or geriatric patients with psychiatric/mental health issues.
Work as part of a dedicated team that provides individualized, recovery-focused care. Utilizing knowledge and experience, successful candidates will provide individuals quality nursing care to adult and geriatric psychiatric patients in accordance with Hospital policy and procedure, and standards of nursing practice.

The successful candidate will evaluate, supervise, and provide performance guidance for staff. She/he will utilize nursing processes and knowledge in pharmacology, psychiatric disorders, as well as, physical, psychological and social needs when caring for our patients.

Any overtime worked will be paid at one and one-half times the regular hourly rate of pay.

A fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the finalist candidate for the position under Va. Code 2.2-12-1.1

Minimum Qualifications
  • Registered Nursing licensure or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Stable work history

Preferred Qualifications
Psychiatric, mental health, or long-term care experience preferred.
