Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Regulatory Expert with RCRA and CERCLA experience to join our Environment Resiliency team in the United States.

This position will support our continued successful project delivery for our clients, in helping commercial and federal project teams navigate ever-changing state and federal regulations. This opportunity requires a dynamic individual with regulatory experience and excellent communication and negotiation skills. The ideal candidate will support account and project teams and provide regulatory expertise and be able to work in both team settings and independently.

Role accountabilities:

  • Provide senior review and quality assurance / quality control (QA/QC) support for project strategy and deliverables, as appropriate.
  • Experience in client advocacy that can build trust and knowledge of how to negotiate with regulatory agencies.
  • Assess and provide internal guidance to Operations/Account Teams/Project Teams on potential project delivery impacts of anticipated or newly promulgated regulatory limits associated with emerging contaminants such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)
  • Assist project delivery teams, as requested, in regulatory negotiations under CERCLA and RCRA
  • Liaison with the Strategic Project Delivery (SPD – i.e., corporate risk management) group and operations management for regulatory assessment of SPD projects
  • A lead expert at a national level within Arcadis with strong regional networks and operating across client teams in the diverse market sectors served by Arcadis
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant national standards and codes of practice, including demonstrate expertise in navigating applicable state and federal regulations

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in geology, environmental engineering, environmental science, environmental law, or other relevant degree
  • 10 years of experience as a state or federal regulator with demonstrated track record of leading RCRA and/or CERCLA regulatory strategy on high-profile projects towards a successful outcome

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • 20 years of experience preferred, 10 years in consultancy
  • Professional license or certificate in relevant field (e.g., PE, PG, CIH, CHMM) status or equivalent
