General Overview

This is a Dallas, TX based position, which requires theoretical knowledge and experience in the design, operation, testing and maintenance of relay protection equipment as well as associated substation equipment.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• You will insure that customer satisfaction goals are met on a daily basis.
• Provide technical support for Megger Relay Test products with personal visits, demonstrations, and hands-on training on site or remotely.
• Must have the ability to create and maintain strong relationships with customers
• From time to time, you will need to validate product specifications through application testing of hardware and software products and provide feedback for product enhancement/improvement.
• Prepare white papers, application notes and technical articles to reinforce Megger as subject matter expert in relay protection
• Contribute to product specifications, software, and application literature as well as product design & development.
• You will work closely with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Technical Support, Manufacturing, Service and Repair, Quality, and Management to ensure that company product line profitability goals are met.
• You must have a good working knowledge of Materials Management, and how Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales use the software. You will use this knowledge in the development of new/improved product features and options for Sales order entry, Engineering/Manufacturing Bill of Materials, and other uses of the management software in the manufacturing and sales process.

• Should be able to present on different theoretical topics and case studies at conferences and technical meetings
• Champion the Relay product line by regular interaction with Engineering, Product Management, Sales and TSG for all Sales channels.
• Develop competitor reviews and analysis, and be an expert with respect to your competition worldwide
• Run and co-ordinate beta site programs with early-stage products
• Collaborate with the Sales Teams by evaluating bid requests to determine possible competitors, and make recommendations on possible product offerings and competitive pricing strategies
• Act as a leader within the company

Requirements/Knowledge/Skills:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years experience in the field of power system protection, preferably in testing both electromechanical and microprocessor based protection relays
• Knowledge of NERC standards as it relates to relay protection
• Knowledge of different relay protection principles and hands on experience in relay testing.
• Have good working knowledge of the methods and procedures used in utility substation design, maintenance, protection and control
• Experience in the installation, testing, and maintenance of protection and control systems, PLC systems and associated substation equipment
• Excellent teamwork skills
• Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to travel 25% of the time to meet with customers, attend/present at technical conferences/seminars, including international travel
• Position requires strong computer skills including knowledge of various Windows platforms, software installation, various PC I/O ports and Microsoft Office
• Creative, driven and self-motivated individual with strong customer focus

Beneficial Knowledge/Skills:

• Experience in High Current Test equipment and applications thereof will be beneficial
• Ten years experience in the field of power system protection, preferably in testing both electromechanical and microprocessor based protection relays
• Five years experience in managing products for profitability
• Experience with IEC 61850 Standard in relaying applications and testing is a plus
• Sales experience is a plus
