Are you looking to make a positive impact in your community? Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) seeks a Resettlement Caseworker to support the resettlement of Afghan evacuees and other refugee populations through our Refugee and Immigrant Services programs in Des Moines.
What You'll Do
Responsible for supporting newly arrived refugee clients throughout the resettlement process. Assists clients in obtaining necessary services including pre-arrival coordination of housing and other resources, airport arrivals, employment, school enrollment and other services. Transports and accompanies clients to appointments directly and coordinates service activities with volunteers and community resources to ensure all services are provided within required timeframes. Responsible for conducting assessments, establishing goals and facilitating self sufficiency plans through a client-centered, trauma-informed, strengths-based approach. Coordinate service activities and interpretation services on behalf of refugee clients.
Service activities may occur during normal business hours, after hours, or on weekends depending upon arrival times and client needs. Maintains written documentation of services and complete case files.

What You'll Need
Required: Bachelor's degree in health or human service related field and one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Linguistic appropriate skills to meet the needs of the clients are desired but not required
This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record and the ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
