Job Purpose
The growth in the “Connected Home” market has been significant over the last 5 years. Home Automation and connected devices are becoming more commonplace and everything from vacuum cleaners and lawnmowers to door bells and surveillance cameras are becoming affordable and part of a modern home.
Remote monitoring and Remote control of pest control devices that are hard to access and time consuming to service if there is no activity are becoming more common in our commercial proposition and we believe that we need to innovate in this space for our residential market. This role will work closely with the traditional residential innovation team to create residential connected innovation solutions that provide more efficient and effective pest control solutions beyond our traditional solutions. The aim will be to create, trial and prove the residential connected opportunities in preparations for a larger scale residential connected deployment in the future.
Key Accountabilities

Innovation & Expertise
  • Fully research and understand the Consumer / Residential market in North America to identify potential new business opportunities through a range of connected pest solutions specifically targeted at these customers.
  • Review the existing Commercial Connected suite of solutions for potential suitability or adaptation to target Residential customers.
  • Work with Sales, Operations and Marketing colleagues to help frame and formulate the thinking on likely business models for Residential Connected solutions
  • Identify gaps in the portfolio, and new product requirements working directly with the relevant Category Marketing leads, and in collaboration with the group IoT teams and the local residential pest innovation team
  • Liaise closely with all M&I teams to ensure alignment of our product development activities.
  • Run innovations sessions within Rentokil Initial / Rentokil Terminix showing tangible outcomes to Proof of Concept ideas.
  • Support the Digital Innovation Director and Group Innovation & Product Development Director with the preparation of materials and insight for forums such as the Technical Leadership Team, Pest Category Boards and Digital SteerCo.
  • Work closely with marketing colleagues to provide new and novel claims support and selling support information to support product deployment.
  • Play an active leadership role on the North American Development review
  • Continuously monitor competitor products for market information — ensuring awareness, in conjunction with the Category Marketing leads, of any relevant developments.
  • Keep updated on industry news and pest trends and where appropriate update internal stakeholders and interested parties

Customers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including innovation partners, key industry bodies and academia.
  • Provide technical field support for connected solutions whilst they are in early life
  • Provide technical insight and direction for our wider Connected strategy
Skills, Experience and Competencies
  • A minimum of a good honors degree in a technology or similar discipline.
  • Relevant experience in the innovation lifecycle & product development
  • Ideally knowledge of current Pest products (or directly-related) fields and services. Experience with IoT and connected solutions preferred.
  • Innovation, creativity training or experience.
  • I.T. Literate with working knowledge of the full Google suite, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Able to make sense out of large sets of data and communicate in a compelling manner.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical results data and their significance, to peers, non-technical colleagues and commercial sponsors of work.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines within a structured project management framework.
  • Proven experience of working across borders, regions and culture; frequent travel likely.
  • Fluent English essential. Further languages an advantage.
