The Ahern Hotel & Convention Center is seeking a Restaurant Host to join our team!

Guest perception/first impressions begin at the front door. Thus, the Host must maintain an organized, approachable, yet professional image at the entrance of our Ottimo restaurant. This is critical in setting a convivial, competent atmosphere and in making sure each guest feels recognized and welcome. At Ottimo, we are a Team who all adhere to unified standards. Every guest and every table are everybody’s business and everybody’s responsibility, although during peak dining service periods, the Host will identify and carry out only their responsibilities.

As an Ambassador for the Ottimo restaurant, some of the Host responsibilities are:

• Maintain a cheerful presence at the door.
• Greet guests, and offer guests a fond farewell when they are leaving and invite them to come again.
• Assist when people need direction to different places on the property.
• Take reservations, and log guest details into the reservation system.
• Help build tables to accommodate parties.
• Work with the Restaurant Event Order liaison for events within the restaurant.
• Take phone calls.
• Maintain communication with Hotel Front Desk as needed.
• Change out menus, keep current menus stocked and ready for use.
• Help inform patrons about events in the restaurant and on the property.
• Facilitate guest seating, removing extra settings after seating the guests.
• Dispatch To-Go orders when they have time (or retrieve a Server to do it if they don’t).
• Coordinate the flow of the dining room.
• Curate accurate, fair, consistent server rotation.
• Maintain an awareness of the dining stage of each table in the restaurant.
• Help other positions in the restaurant when needed and not busy.
• Maintain necessary communications with the Chef on Duty regarding in-flow of guests.
• Maintain continual communication with all Team Members necessary to carry out their responsibilities successfully.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• A highly motivated and energetic personality.
• Candidates must be able to communicate in English fluently and in a professional manner, in written and oral form.
• Requires the ability to work efficiently and within a team environment.
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or above.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Health Card from the Southern Nevada Health District.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain any other licensing or active work cards required, at present or in the future, for this position at all times.
• Willing to work in a loud and fast paced environment.
• Consistently deliver exceptional service to every guest while interacting and entertaining in a professional manner.
• Ability to initiate and maintain an upbeat and relaxed environment on a consistent basis.
• Adhere to and enforce company specific safety policies.
• Consistently maintain a well-groomed appearance, posture and hygiene deemed by management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
