Job Title: Retail Manager
Position Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Vice President & Vice President of Finance
Job Summary
The Retail Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating activities related to Purchasing, Merchandising, Warehouse, Inventory, Sales/Promotions and Nutritional Training. As a hands-on leader, the Retail Manager conducts all activities alongside Retail Associates while providing supervisory and managerial oversight including addressing complaints, resolving problems, and employee motivation and performance appraisals. The Retail Manager actively demonstrates an understanding and connection with our core principals as described in our Mission/Vision Statements.
Essential Job Functions
· Build client loyalty through active customer engagement, highlighting nutritional values and educating consumers on benefits for the health of their pet
· Order Management - responsible for placing orders, tracking purchase orders and invoices
· Inventory Management - input/upload inventory in Springboard, review/maintain supply levels, organize inventory bi-annually, participate in biweekly retail conference calls and apply strategies discussed and attend trade shows
· Ensure showroom etiquette including rotations, replenishment and accurate pricing
· Ensure showroom visual appeal including suggestions for merchandising improvements
· Receive small order shipments, verify contents against packing lists and place in stockroom
· Customer Relations - including one-on-one communication, nutrition guidance, special orders
· Vendor Relations- professional communications, negotiate pricing and special promotions
· Stock Room- oversight includes cleanliness, organization, expiration dates
· Promotions and Special Sales- plan, facilitate and roll out ongoing specials as required
· Communicate signage needs to Marketing team ensuring timely placement in showroom
· Communicate special promotions and sales to Client Services team
· Report generation and sales analysis; identify successes and/or recommend improvements
· Monitor product movement; analyze and make order adjustments
· Follow market trends; identify new products in the market
· Nutrition seminars- schedule/coordinate with staff and outside Vendors; expand and share product knowledge
· Animal Control- maintain records including intake paperwork, billing and release
· Credit Card processing- expedite client credit card balances weekly
· Apparel/Logo orders- act as point person for employees; coordinate all processes with vendor
Computer Skills
· Must be able to learn and efficiently use Gingr, Springboard, Retail Orbit, Trello, Electronic calendar management & Go Daddy email, When I Work and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Must be able to learn new technology in accordance with business needs.
Qualifications
· 5+ years’ experience in Retail Management in the pet food industry
· Reliable and dependable; maintain excellent attendance and punctuality
· Strong work ethic; sets high standards for self and others
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
· Comfortable interacting with all breeds large and small
· Passionate about animal welfare; treats all animals with compassion and kindness
Education
· Associates Degree preferred
· High School or equivalent required
