Darigold is seeking a skilled and motivated Sanitation Operator to be a part of Darigold’s Portland, OR team. The Sanitation Operator will execute the cleaning schedule, troubleshoot any issues and follow all Food Safety and Quality requirements.

What You Will Do:

  • Cleanup of floors and walls in production areas.
  • Maintain and monitor areas throughout the plant for cleanliness.
  • Assist in cleaning equipment “CIPs”
  • Prepping and painting areas in need of repair throughout the interior of the plant.
  • Monitoring and changing air filters in all areas of the plant.
  • Cleanup of grounds outside of the plant. Including trash pickup, sweeping parking areas, painting parking lines, and painting barriers and Ballard’s.
  • Maintaining organization of the cleaning tools i.e. Mop buckets, brooms, dust mops, painting tools

and any other tools that may be needed to perform cleanup duties.

  • Maintain organization of the paint room storage area, and insure paint and paint thinners are stored in flammable cabinets only.
  • Must pass the GMP and other training courses assigned through Quality Control.
  • Dumping totes and bags of powdered milk into a blender for reconstituting back into a liquid.
  • Need to be able to pass the Darigold forklift training and operate the forklift when needed.
  • Assisting Maintenance engineers in routine maintenance and repairs.
  • This position is responsible for following all Food Safety and Quality requirements as outlined in Darigold’s Good Manufacturing Policy, in conformance with the position’s Standard Operating Procedures, and in accordance with facility training sessions and materials. The position is also required to report any concerns that may impact Food Safety or Quality to their immediate supervisor, the Plant Quality Manager or the Plant Manager.

What You Bring:
  • Must be able to stand/walk for 12 hours
  • Must be able to confidently traverse concrete and tile floors that may intermittently be wet with milk, water, or butter.
  • Must be able to climb up and down stairs both expanded metal, catwalk, and surfaced
  • Must be able to wear PPE including a hard hat, safety glasses, rubber steel-toed boots, hearing protection, nitrile gloves, and cotton coveralls for the entire duration of the shift Rain gear during CIP
  • Must be able to wear full-length cotton/ polyester pants and nylon/polyester shirt uniform for the duration of the shift.
  • Strong visual acuity, with or without corrective lens, allowing for the ability to verify small printing on the packaging for quality control and inventory management practices as well as perform a tit
  • Must be able to operate powered and unpowered pallet jackets for the movement of pallets into position and filled pallets out into the warehouse
  • Must be capable to gain forklift operator certification and safely operate a forklift in tight quarters
  • Must be manually dexterous enough to handle and use a utility safety knife, open small plastic bottles, handle and use an eye dropper, and write legibly
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 60 pounds frequently, between floor level and chest level and above shoulder height
  • Ability to organize and analyze process problems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; must be able to read and follow directions
  • Must be able to accurately perform basic math
  • Must be able to monitor and inspect products and equipment
  • Computer experience
  • Must be able to follow instructions with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Processes
Education, Experience, and Certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1-year production experience preferred
