Position Summary:
SAT Language Arts Instructor for high school students.

Essential Functions:
  • To conduct an integrated academic SAT Language Arts Test Prep course, teach students SAT test strategies, conduct teaching and instructional activities using educational equipment, manipulatives, props and other learning aids.
  • Prepare and submit a course outline prior to the start of the class.
  • Assist with the planning, instruction and evaluation of tutoring and problem solving activities.
  • Complete paperwork associated with classroom and project management.
  • Make recommendations on students’ strength and needs.
  • Report student learning and behavioral issues to the appropriate staff personnel.
  • Assist with the training and evaluation of Teacher Assistants, required to attend training and all meetings.

Additional Functions:
  • Transport students from one class location to another in a timely manner, ensuring proper supervision and safety of students.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
  • Two or more years of teaching experience at the middle school, high school or post-secondary level.
  • Complete a background clearance check.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop and conduct a comprehensive instructional tutoring program for students enrolled in the Educational Talent Search Program.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in designated discipline.
  • Experience working with minority and disadvantaged students at the middle school, high school or post-secondary level.
  • Experience working with minority or disadvantaged students at the middle school, high school or post-secondary level.
  • At the universities discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, and equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
