Position: School Bus Driver

Job Summary: Provide safe and efficient school bus transportation to eligible students, enabling them to participate in the district’s curriculum and extracurricular programs to the extent possible. Buses hold up to 78 elementary-age students. Full-time means driving both morning and afternoon shifts for elementary, middle and high schools. Extra driving for field trips, mid-day school deliveries/dismissals, and summer school available, but not mandatory. Part-time employment options are also available. School schedule--weekends and holidays off.

Length of Contract: 190 days (180 school days + annual training)

Qualifications:

- Must be at least 18 years of age; high school diploma or equivalent preferred

- Possess a current commercial driver’s license (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements (transferrable to South Carolina) or be capable of obtaining a South Carolina CDL with P & S endorsements. Paid CDL training available.

- Four (4) or less points against current driver’s license and Four (4) or less points in previous twelve (12) months.

- Successfully pass US Department of Transportation (DOT) Drug/Alcohol Testing and Physical Examination.

- Successfully pass a background investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Effective Date: August 1, 2022--some summer work potentially available sooner.
