Employment Type: Full-time (10 month position)
Location: Gaylord, MI

St. Mary Cathedral School is seeking to hire a full-time (10-month position) secretary. Qualified candidates should have an active faith life, be caring, energetic, compassionate, and nurturing toward children, enjoy a fast-paced work environment and work calmly under pressure.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs secretarial duties for Principal, Assistant Principal, and others designated staff.
  • Receives and places telephone calls, schedules appointments and meetings, prepares written communications, processes mail, greets guests, and prepares bulk mailings as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains office record-keeping filing systems.
  • Maintains schedule of office hours for staff, schedules school facilities, and coordinates use of keys for facility.
  • Attends meetings as requested.
  • Oversees opening and closing of the office each day, ensuring all machines are turned on/off, windows and doors are locked and appropriate lights are turned on/off.
  • Maintains a record keeping system to ensure fees and payments are collected and recorded correctly.
  • Provides other assistance as needed, which may include contacting substitute teachers and annual inventory and processing of purchase orders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Christ-centered individual with an active faith life
  • Proficiency and experience in Microsoft and student data information systems
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment involving multi-tasking under pressure
  • Experience working with children
  • Ability to exhibit compassion with students, staff, parents, and other community members
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Able to be flexible and accept duties as assigned
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
