The YMCA of Kanawha Valley is currently accepting applications and/or resumes for a Seasonal Assistant Cook.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Food Services Coordinator and Youth Development Director, the Seasonal Assistant Cook will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of meals at Cross Lanes YMCA Child Development Center and the Charleston Family YMCA for the summer season. The Food Services team prepares and serves breakfast, lunch, and snack for approximately 275 children and 60 staff daily.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Seasonal Assistant Cook must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or higher, and have at least one (1) year of food service experience. A basic knowledge of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and experience working in a school cafeteria setting is highly preferred.
REQUIREMENTS
The Summer Assistant Cook must understand the basic concepts of the organization and its mission, must possess a valid driver’s license, obtain a CPR/First Aid Certification, pass all required criminal background checks (including sex offender registry), have a negative reaction to a TB test, supply a recent health assessment signed by a licensed physician and performed not more than ninety (90) days prior to the date hired, complete Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention training, and complete all other requirements deemed necessary by the YMCA of Kanawha Valley and its licensing authorities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
General responsibilities include, but are not limited to…
- Assist in planning, preparing, and serving meals in accordance with Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
- Transporting prepared meals from Cross Lanes YMCA to the Charleston Family YMCA
- Assist with production records and inventory records at the Charleston Family YMCA
- Assist in purchasing and ordering of food and supplies at the Charleston Family YMCA
- Help maintain a clean, working kitchen/cafeteria in accordance with Health Department and other regulatory agencies
- Develop a positive and functional working relationship with Food Services and Youth Development team
SHIFT INFORMATION
Position is seasonal will end on August 11, 2023, with the possibility of transferring to another department afterward.
Monday – Friday, 6:00am-12:30pm
