Reporting to the UCLA Extension Associate Director of Facilities Management, the Senior Center Manager manages administrative and learning center operations in multiple locations. Metro Centers comprise approximately 52% of the total space leased by Extension. This includes an inventory of 59 classrooms. Extension offers approximately 4,500 classes annually at the Metro Centers and in Campus classrooms. Each Center has an annual census of more than 100,000 continuing education students, instructors, and visitors.

They supervise staff of the evening and weekend coverage as part of the 16-hour operations Monday through Thursday, 11 hours Friday and Saturday and up to 9 hours on Sundays. They create a comprehensive monthly master staffing schedule for all Metro Centers and Extension Administration building that complies with all appropriate bargaining unit contracts, UCLA, Extension policies, and employee schedules. They identify, troubleshoot, and resolve institutional instructional programming, scheduling, and support problems, discrepancies, or redundancies that negatively impact the delivery of instruction or the smooth support of Extension or outside user events, conferences or meetings.

The Senior Center Manager serves as the Facilities' Department liaison to property management representative(s), vendors, and contractors. Interpret and implement general University, UCLA Extension, and property management policies and procedures. They provide direction and leadership for all safety/emergency response procedures and protocols.

1. General knowledge of management principles and practices and their application in a complex institutional environment.

2. Ability to read, interpret and communicate administrative and personnel policy and procedure manuals, internal office guidelines and UCLA Extension catalog.

3. Demonstrated skill in supervising including providing direction, monitoring and evaluating work performance, and developing a strong team environment.

15. Working knowledge of major building systems (i.e., HVAC, plumbing, electrical distribution, elevators, alarms) to recognize malfunctions and to effectively describe problems/emergencies to the Director of Facilities, property management representative, contractor or service agencies.

16. Ability to travel to various centers as required, using own insured vehicle.

17. Demonstrated experience in the development and maintenance of large, complex budgets, including:

a) Skill in planning, preparation, and analysis of fiscal budgets, including comparative trends for use in budgetary review meetings.
