Who We Are
Our team, Driving Environment, is a part of the Cab Engineering function for Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT), a division of Volvo Group North America. GTT provides state-of-the-art research, engineering, product planning and project execution to final delivery of complete products and support the products in the aftermarket.

In the Driving Environment team, our responsibilities are the environment, securing the driver is comfortable and safe and has access to what he/she needs during the workday. This includes aesthetic interior parts such as Instrument Panel, Door panels, Kick Panels, Controls - Steering wheel, column, shaft and pedals, Seats and Climate system (HVAC). The group is made of talented, dedicated, and diverse individuals with extensive product development experience. We strongly believe in working hard while supporting each other and having fun!

About your role:
As a Senior Engineer in the driving team, you will design and develop components and systems for the driving area. You will play a key role in the cross-functional team where the safety and comfort of the driver is always a priority.

Responsibilities:
  • Act as a Product owner/Responsible Engineer of Driving Environment components.
  • Plan, develop and deliver challenging engineering projects.
  • Ensure all geometric, manufacturing, and assembly requirements are analyzed, verified, and met with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Work with global partners and suppliers to coordinate Volvo comprehensive expertise.
  • Meet key project targets such as delivering on time, within cost, weight, and quality targets.
  • Assure compliance with all applicable vehicle regulations (FMVSS, FMCSR, EPA, CARB, etc.) relating to your area of responsibility.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • 5–8 years of experience of cross-functional product development in the automotive/truck/construction equipment/aerospace industry
  • Experience designing Interior or Exterior Trim working with injection molded components
  • Experience using CAD systems (Catia/PRO-E) and PLM systems with the ability to position and manipulate models is required.
  • Customer focus, time management, strong communication skills, analytical, collaborative, and problem solving
  • A heavy emphasis is placed on the candidate’s energy, determination, creativity, technical analysis, and communication
