Job Summary

As an Oldcastle Maintenance and Repair Mechanic, you will be responsible for the preventive maintenance, repair, and installation of manufacturing equipment. Maintenance and Repair Mechanics also provide maintenance support for the various facilities and structures on company property. The successful candidate must be able to work safely in a fast-paced, covered, and uncovered manufacturing facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• 
  Reporting to the plant manager, the industrial mechanic is responsible for:
• Work safely and apply EHS procedures
• Maintain production equipment according to a schedule (cleaning, lubrication, adjustment)
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary
• Replace defective parts to ensure proper performance
• Suggest equipment and tools to improve productivity
• Participate in the installation and commissioning of new equipment
• Maintain the building (change hvac filter)
• Inspection tour of utility systems (compressors, hvac, pumps)
• Assist with maintaining forklift
• Execute welding work
• Implement a preventive maintenance program
• Maintain the mechanical workshop – ensure it is clean and orderly
• Support and assist production operators as needed
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 
  At least 7 years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting
• Practical knowledge of welding
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical
• Knowledge of automation is an asset
• Able to read and write in English as well as record and understand numerical values
• Forklift experience is preferred

Physical Requirements

• 
  Physical requirements include lifting up to 100 lbs., extended standing, walking, sitting, bending, climbing, working inside and outside, and use of protection equipment
• Able to perform job tasks in dusty, hot and/or cold working conditions
• Able to sit for extended periods, climb up & down from cab heights, and work effectively in outdoor climate(s) - cold, heat, rain, fog
