The position manages projects and teams to facilitate the on-time delivery of the project objectives. The position follows established project management methodologies throughout each of the projects; may participate in setting or refining the standards for project management and will mentor staff regarding Project Management practices. He/she directs activities of the project team and communicates with the appropriate team leads, managers, senior management, and the business. The position may also take on the responsibilities of the Business Analyst for the project.

  • Follows established project management guidelines and processes to develop, maintain, and track project plans, conduct project meetings and report project status.
  • Works with other departments to ensure each project has the required level of participation and understanding to ensure projects are delivered within the time and budgetary guidelines.
  • Identifies and responds to project risks including mitigating and resolving communication problems and team conflicts.
  • Assures that business case for initiative is within corporate strategic plan and provides assistance to the business to create the Return on Investment (ROI) documentation
  • Follows up with team members, stakeholders, and clients by ensuring meeting minutes and status updates are communicated to them.
  • Gathers project requirements from various business users and technical staff members and creates accurate and organized work breakdown structure.
  • Provides input/process improvement recommendations to processes.
  • Participates in product and vendor evaluations.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, PMP Certification preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Project Management of Application Systems, preferably in Higher Education.
  • Proven team leadership and facilitation skills.
  • Proven understanding of project management concepts and system life cycle methodologies.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionality with all areas of an organization.
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., MS Project).
  • Excellent communications skills required – both written and verbal.
  • Excellent problem solving, organization and analytical skills.
