Title: Staff Scientist
Location: Seattle, Washington; Irvine, California, Portland, Oregon; Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey

What’s the Opportunity?
Anchor QEA seeks a senior-level staff scientist to serve as project chemist, quality assurance manager and laboratory coordinator. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of combined commercial environmental laboratory and/or environmental consulting experience with an emphasis on quality assurance and quality control components, data generation, reporting, validation.
Responsibilities:
As part of our internal chemistry team, support projects across the United States and Canada with field, laboratory, and validation coordination.
- Lead the chemistry team (potential for staff management dependent on experience)
- Work with management to drive chemistry team efficiency
- Coordinate, manage track, process, and review laboratory produced data
- Conduct data validation and data validation peer reviews
- Work with project teams conducting environmental investigations following detailed technical work plans
- Develop Quality Assurance Project Plans, Sampling and Analysis Plans, data validation reports, data usability assessments, and data reports
- Integrate with the Data Solutions (i.e., company-wide chemistry EQUiS® database), Geospatial Sciences and Field Services groups to manage the flow of data
What Are We Looking For?
Ideal candidates will have the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or other related discipline
- 10+ years of combined commercial environmental laboratory or environmental consulting experience
- Experience in team management (staff management experience is a plus)
- Performing chemical analysis in an academic or commercial setting
- Understanding of analytical methods (EPA SW-846, Standard Methods, ASTM) for metals, inorganic, and organic contaminants
- Experience with data review and data validation procedures (EPA National Functional Guidelines) and corrective actions to address data quality issues
- Experience in writing and reviewing data validation reports
- Familiarity with laboratory data processing, LIMS software and EDD generation.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and technical writing skills
- Self-motivated, creative problem solver, and able to work both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
