This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on Friday, April 7, 2023

The Service Tech position pays between $46,120.00 to $57,650.00 and the Senior Service Tech position pays between $54,200 to $67,750. Placement in any level is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.


This position is eligible for supplemental pay in accordance with NMGC's Supplemental Pay Policy.


The successful candidate must live within 30 minutes of the Espanola office.


Service Tech


POSITION CONCEPT

Under general supervision, performs a wide range of meter work and service requests, which includes repairs and troubleshoots routine to difficult/non-routine service problems, and may consist of servicing customer appliances. Provides quality customer service by resolving customer inquiries and complaints in a professional/courteous manner.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes meter orders to include connects, disconnects, meter sets, and meter exchanges, in a timely and safe manner
  • Performs and completes service requests to include adjustment, and investigation of high bill complaints
  • May investigate and respond to gas emergency orders and requests, such as blowing gas lines, in compliance with Company emergency and safety guidelines
  • Collaborates and consults with various individuals and groups to ensure the timely and safe completion of work assignments
  • Prepares and completes in a timely/accurate manner various/required reports in the performance of assigned duties, such as damage reports, odorant test reports and/or related system reports
  • Documents and maintains records such as final inspection, yellow and red tags, and permits
  • May be required to provide general assistance in any department and or function, as needed
  • May be assigned to monitor warehousing of supplies and/or related materials as required or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)


Licenses/Certifications

Required: Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable Operator Qualifications (OQs). Must successfully apply for and pass the State of New Mexico exam to obtain a Journeyman Gas Fitters license (JGL) within a maximum of 2.5 years. Must possess a valid driver's license or may be required to maintain a commercial driver’s license (CDL), depending upon the position and/or geographic location. All team members must meet the acceptable driving record requirements of the Company.

Required: Zero (0) to four (4) years of direct and/or related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)

Required: Ability to gain the knowledge of all areas of service, including, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Working knowledge and demonstrated mechanical/technical general of all areas of service, including basic service and odorization. General knowledge of company procedures and policies and local, state, and federal regulations of the duties assigned. Working knowledge of customer service functions. Ability to recognize potential and immediate hazards and acts in emergencies. Ability to operate various tools and equipment related to service work, such as a Combustible Gas Instrument (CGI). Ability to troubleshoot all types of appliances. Ability to analyze and resolve routine/complex meter, service, and installation problems.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Field environment. Shall be required to work overtime and/or on-call and handle rotational standby duty or emergency response as needed. May be required to work at various job sites, out of town, and/or remote locations for extended periods. Personal protective equipment needed including but are not limited to safety glasses, puncture resistance boots, hard hat, and respirator mask;) worn while performing the field functions.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS

Frequent required to stand and/or walk to 2/3 of the time and sit up to 1/3 of the time. Manual dexterity needed with the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, listen, and smell. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work from an elevated position, such as ladders and rooftops. Will be exposed to outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and natural gas emergencies and situations. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.


Senior Service Tech


POSITION CONCEPT
Under minimal supervision, independently performs meter work and service requests, which includes repairs and troubleshooting difficult to complex non-routine service problems and servicing customer appliances. May and delegate work assignments as needed or assigned. May assume a limited lead role during outage restoration, compliance project work, and/or back-up to the Operations Supervisor as needed. Provides quality customer service by resolving customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and/or courteous manner.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Completes meter orders to include connects, disconnects, meter sets, and meter exchanges, in a timely and safe manner

2. Completes service requests to include repair, adjustment, and investigation of high bill complaints
