Protolabs “Services” infrastructure team is looking for an individual with a genuine passion for technology who is also a critical thinking collaborative team player with deep knowledge and experience in on-premise MS server and services technologies as well as Cloud & SaaS administration and solutions.
This remote role will be based in Minnesota and is expected to be able to support our global environments on their own within their defined areas of expertise. This role demands a knowledgeable, dedicated, high performing team player who is a fast learner with a driven mindset yet maintains a cautious approach for business impact to change.
The Services Systems Administrator will work closely with IT team members, business users, and other technology stakeholders to maintain, develop, and support our on-premise and cloud IT services at Protolabs.
You will:
- Design, configure and administer on-premise & cloud based Microsoft server and services environment as well as cloud SaaS applications.
- Assist with O365 implementation, expansion of use and ongoing administration including Teams, Exchange (on-premise and online) and SharePoint Online
- Exchange administration (deep understanding of email mail flow and tooling (SPAM filter, message tracking, migration experience a plus, etc.)
- Responsible for systems uptime - Maintain and monitor all critical applications to ensure systems availability and provide baselines.
- Plan and perform OS, application upgrades and patch management for enterprise Windows servers
- Support 3rd party Windows based applications
- Monitor ticketing system and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Participate or lead in the planning, design, and execution of complicated technical projects and roadmap
- Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways for Protolabs to take advantage of new technology
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
- Responsible for shared 24x7 coverage of the infrastructure and applications. Requires occasional after-hours work and regular after-hours on-call rotation.
You have:
- 5+ years of experience in Microsoft systems administrator or similar role
- Experience includes:
- in-depth knowledge experience DNS, DHCP, GPO’s, Active Directory
- advanced PowerShell scripting and automation
- Multiple forests / domain experience
- intermediate to advanced RDS & Remote App experience
- on-premise advanced MS Exchange & Exchange Online experience
- O365, Teams, Azure, AWS experience & governance
- Advanced MS licensing knowledge (O365, CSP & EA agreements)
- 2+ year of VMWare / storage administration
- 2+ years of Okta SSO & MFA administration experience
- SolarWinds Orion or related monitoring and alerting solutions.
- Experience managing SaaS and Cloud.
- Experience creating documentation, roadmaps and determining technology solutions & proposals
- ITSM ticketing system experience - Ability to watch work queue and close tickets
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Has a sense of urgency/timeliness
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Cloud first mentality - Explore, understand, and plan for what technologies or services should remain on-premises or moved to the cloud
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- Comfortable working cross-functionally in a team setting / willingness to jump into the unknown
- Open to change, willing to be flexible in support structure
- Self-motivated individual who can complete tasks independently
