As the Sheep Flock Manager, you will:
- Provide primary oversight for all sheep enterprise and daily animal care and management including but not limited to: animal health and well-being, animal management responsibilities, housing, nutrition, reproduction and facilitation of the US Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC) mission.
- Provide planning expertise to assist scientists developing projects in the sheep research area.
- Manage DNA collection and parentage analysis for lambs born in pasture lambing flocks.
- Be responsible in the areas of breeding including keeping and culling decisions in the sheep flock.

Minimum Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in animal science, nutrition, or research related field plus four years of experience in sheep production requiring decision making and/or resource management. Knowledge of research principles and practices. Ability to responsibly manage cost containment and observe and anticipate problems related to production health and performance of ewes and lambs in a production system.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in a large scale sheep production facility. Knowledge of husbandry requirements for other large livestock species. Knowledge of computer database management including the skill to utilize a database as a decision making tool.

$52,000 minimum
