Job description
The Shipper is responsible for packing and preparing products for shipping, completing packing slips and inputting data into the shipping database. The shipper is also responsible for the shipment of orders to our customers, taking into consideration factors such as quality, cost, and on-time delivery. He/she plays an integral role in getting orders shipped in a timely manner and in a way to minimize damage.
Responsibilities:
- Complies with all safety rules and regulations.
- Manage Shipping supplier relationships and negotiations for the maintenance and improvement of the supply of components and materials.
- Maintains minimum stock quantities of shipping supplies.
- Receives purchased parts, pulls parts for jobs, and does cycle counts or monitors others doing these tasks.
- Communicate with peers about shipping and receiving information that is important to current jobs.
- Overtime or changes in normal shift may be necessary based on customer orders including weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Other duties as assigned/necessary. We have a flexible environment where we enjoy working together as a team to do a variety of tasks throughout the facility to fulfill customer jobs.
Required Education and Experience:
- A degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Operations or equivalent experience.
- Ability to think strategically, understand business/financial data, and develop related improvement plans.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills to resolve complex issues for long-term improvement.
- Must have knowledge and experience with UPS, FedEx, and LTL carriers.
- A balance of strategic and tactical leadership with high energy and sense of urgency.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable and able to work in an industrial environment.
- Prefer experience with a custom engineered product or machine build environment.
- Good administrative skills including attention to detail, comparing numbers, and tracking quantities.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work effectively with little or no supervision.

Operations Physical Requirements
- Able to stand and work for extended periods of time.
- Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
- Able to move around in a factory environment sometimes in tight spaces in and around equipment.
- Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds periodically.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position may have supervisory responsibilities.
