Company Info: Guardian Construction Company is a family owned and operated underground utility and restoration contractor located in New Castle, DE since 1976. We are a full service general contractor working with both private and public entities in the state of Delaware consisting of but not limited to gas, electric, asphalt and concrete restoration, ,erosion control, grading, excavation, pavement removal, traffic control, patching and pavement of all sizes, shapes and thicknesses. Seeking experienced candidates with gas and electric experience to join our team!

Essential Job Duties

• Fuse plastic pipe
• Experience/knowledge in installing gas lines/electric and/or telecommunications cables preferred
• Locate utilities with hand tools such as shovel and spade
• Able to understand and follow the Miss Utility Rules
• Able to understand and follow the Rules to Dig By
• Work with Operators as spotter
• Identify pipe routes
• Install plastic pipe, cable and conduit into the excavation
• Dig trenches with trenching tools
• Grade trenches and follow grade
• Cover pipes or cable with dirt or other material
• Must pass Fusion Qualification tests annually
• Ability to operate and maintain power tools
• Ability to recognize and record pressure readings
• Jobsite safety and Trench safety
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must have valid Drivers License
• Fusion experience preferred
• CDL preferred
• Underground utility construction experience preferred
• Education in Fusing and/or Gas and Utilities construction preferred
• Experience fusing and installing gas mains/services and telecommunications cables preferred
• Trench safety and DOT jobsite safety training experience preferred

Physical Demands:

• Must be physically fit to endure the daily activity involved with the job
• Must be able to bend/kneel/stand/walk for long periods of time
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions

• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
