Job description
Essex Westford School District is seeking a full-time Special Educator beginning in the 2023-2024 school year to focus on assessing students as part of a special education evaluation process. This position is designed to work in partnership with school psychologists to complete academic assessments and support the assessment and reporting writing process. The position will primarily assess students in grades K-8. It is also possible the position may involve limited case management and implementing effective and efficient interventions designed to meet the needs of assigned students, including academics, and effectively integrating students, as well as consulting and collaborating with SLP, OT, PT, PSYCH, and teacher teams. Candidates with experience working in another country and the ability to speak more than one language fluently, and/or Peace Corps. experience are encouraged to apply to help contribute to a diversity of thinking and grow our organizational practices.Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
  • Hold, or eligible to hold, a valid VT Educator license with a Special Educator (3-82) or Consulting Teacher (3-85) endorsement.
  • Ability to task analyze specific skills, develop data collection systems, and make program decisions based on data.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to coach classroom teachers on the use of effective instructional strategies that are inclusive and equitable.
  • Knowledge implementing standards-based curricula, differentiated instruction, and formative assessment in a collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of MTSS and experience working in schools implementing this approach is preferred.
  • Experience implementing and developing behavior plans to build student independence and successful inclusion in the school community.
  • Ability to build successful transition plans that promote success beyond elementary school.
