ACL is searching for an energetic, self-motivated Specimen Prep Technician III/Trainer to join our dynamic team.
- Location: Main Lab
- Shift: 2nd shift
- Full-Time
- 40 hours/week
- Weekend & Holiday rotation

As a Specimen Prep Technician III/Trainer your job responsibilities and duties will include:
- Responsible for all responsibilities of the SPT II. However, position not limited to these functions.
- Demonstrates proficiency and understanding of all job duties and SOP’s related to the Specimen Processing department
- Demonstrate knowledge and an understanding of what resources are available and able to fill in for any function within the Specimen Processing department as necessary.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of how Specimen Processing impacts the testing laboratory.
- Identifies problems with specimen types, missing information etc. at order entry and assigns the appropriate TIQ, and in most cases resolves them.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the compliance policies related to test ordering, which requires developing ability to research test ordering information on translation tables, computer system, and the directory of services.
- Understands complex relationship between test(s) ordered and specimen received
- Completes all required written documentation, legibly and within the assigned timeframe.
- Meets quality and productivity standards within 3 months of completing training
- Validates and verifies orders for other employees.
- Trains employees in any Specimen Processing job function and may provide on-going training.
- Responsible for training new employees for specimen management.
- Become a Media lab assessor for competency/safety and general new employee trainings.
- Performs result entry as required for TIQ/TNP resolution.
- Adheres to all ACL policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Three years experience in a laboratory or production setting is required.
- Computer Knowledge
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to work independently as well as part of a team
