The Technical Leadership and Strategy team provides technical expertise, support and collaboration to the Technical Strategy and Innovation (TSI) unit to inform the work streams of the other three teams, to provide TA to optimize EGPAF programs, and to represent EGPAF as external leaders. These efforts are harmonized with program optimization.

How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?

The Senior Program Officer for AHD Management will provide technical support to the TSI team, the Foundation and the 3 project countries (Cote d’Ivoire, Malawi and Lesotho) on AHD implementation. The Senior Program Officer will support various levels and areas of the team, reporting to and supporting directly the Associate Director Technical Strategy in the implementation of the GATES AHD program implemented in the 3 countries named above, and any country that may be included in subsequent phases of the project. Being based in Washington DC, he/she will also work closely with the TSI senior leadership based at the Foundation headquarters. The position will include travels to project implementation countries such as Cote d’Ivoire, Malawi and Lesotho, and other EGPAF supported countries as may be assigned. The Senior Program Officer primary functions include:

  • Provide technical support to further EGPAF’s Advanced HIV Disease (AHD) management portfolio.
  • Support country teams in project implementation including coordination of the project implementation to ensure harmonization
  • Work closely with research team to develop implement study protocols that are linked to the AHD projects
  • Lead documentation and other evidence from the project countries
  • To support and grow an inventory of evidence-based and client-focused approaches from EGPAF programs and beneficiaries; and ensure adequate documentation and dissemination of these best/promising practices.
  • Develop technical materials for EGPAF programs.
  • Any other duties that may be allocated by TSI leadership.

No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect in this role?

Technical support for EGPAF’s AHD (70% LOE) and research support related to AHD (30% LOE)

  • Provide support to assess and document EGPAF’s work in these two technical areas.
  • Review program data and dashboards to support translation of data for action and trends within EGPAF programs.
  • Maintain an understanding of key developments on AHD management.
  • Support the implementation, follow up and monitoring of the AHD Technical standards.
  • Participate in New Business Development concerning AHD
  • Contribute to study protocol development
  • Contribute to AHD related manuscripts
  • Develop reports
  • Collaborate to optimally manage AHD projects
  • Identifying and adapting best technical approaches for new business development opportunities, both global and country-specific

Develop donor and technical materials for EGPAF programs

  • Develop donor reports as per the required schedule.
  • Develop tools and materials, as needed, to support EGPAF’s AHD implementation.
  • Create or adapt tools and materials for TSI-led technical assistance assignments
  • Advance the technical activities of the TSI team, to include literature reviews, editing technical documents, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned
To be successful, you will have:
  • 7 years of relevant experience
  • MD or PhD with experience working in Africa
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse audiences and colleagues of all levels and locations around the world, and cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Experience with documentation and publications is key.
  • Demonstrated leadership in the following competencies: Customer Service, Decisiveness, and Team Building
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
Bonus points if you have:
  • Experience with research in the field of HIV, TB or infectious disease will be an advantage
  • Fluency in both English and French
