The Sr. Project Manager leads cross functional design teams to plan and execute projects for New Product Development (NPD), and Agile software development projects. Project scope typically includes aspects of embedded hardware design, mechanical engineering, various software disciplines, testing per established guidelines, release to production and sustaining activities. The Sr. Project Manager is also a leader for the business with respect to key business processes and champions their use and continuous improvement across the business. As a Sr. Project Manager you will leads the most complex projects and may provide guidance to less experienced project managers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sr. Project Manager performs across these areas:

Liaison to upper management through the Decision Gate Committee (DGC) on investment projects

Lead cross functional design teams through NPD from concept into production using HED's phase-gate NPD process and Agile software development process

Support production and sustaining engineering efforts for assigned products

Assist Application Engineers and CANect Solutions Engineers through System Development Process (SDP) projects with customers

Lead and manage internal and external engineering resources during projects to ensure completion of milestones and project deliverables including product and project costs, customer prototypes, requirements management, DFMEA, PFMEA, design reviews, design verification, product validation and put-to-production to ensure we deliver high quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations

Champion for product quality on projects throughout the design process

Consistently apply and mentor others in Project Management best practices

Provide status updates as required to communicate progress to all stakeholders

Function as liaison between Engineering, Business Development, and the end Customer

Maintain Engineering Change Notices (ECN) for assigned products

Ensure product compliance to Industry Standard specifications of electronics hardware, assemblies and/or sub-assemblies where required

Aid in collecting Voice of the Customer (VOC) and Voice of the Customer’s Customer (VOCC) needs and converting into technical requirements

Participate/Contribute and suggest product cost reduction initiatives

As necessary (< 10%), travel to meet with customer’s at their site for project work

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Candidates shall have a Bachelor of Science degree from an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited engineering college or university

Experience and/or Training

  • Minimum of 8 years as a project manager on medium to large scale technical projects
  • PMP certification required
  • Experience in design development and/or management role for an industrial / electronics company servicing the OEM market
  • Experience applying both Waterfall and Agile Software Project Management techniques
  • Experience with APQP or other NPD process
  • Experience leading/managing software development projects
  • Experience with SW Project Management tools such as DevOps, Microsoft Project or similar, Microsoft Teams, and other MS Office products
  • Requires demonstrated ability to lead and participate in cross-functional teams
  • Must have proven ability to manage projects to Cost, Scope and Delivery targets while maintaining product Quality
  • Outstanding communications and interpersonal skills; Demonstrated ability to interface successfully with customers, influence others and excel in a matrix environment
  • Knowledge and experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Scrum Master and/or Product Owner certification
  • Learning agility, self-directed and highly motived learner with leadership presence
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • A working knowledge of real-time, embedded controls is very desirable.
  • Ability to lead Domestic and International projects through a virtual team environment

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to ten pounds while moving files or small packages. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Infrequent travel (< 10%) to a customer’s location may be required and may include factory or test environments.
