Summary

How the Timing Software Team Works
Skyworks’ Timing Division is focused on creating a new generation of clock, oscillator and network synchronization products. Our team designs system-on-chip hardware and software for precision timing chips. These chips drive growth in 5G infrastructure, optical networking, data centers, medical and broadcast equipment through best-in class jitter performance and advanced synchronization features.
The Timing software team is highly collaborative and interacts with many groups including software developers, hardware designers, marketing managers, and web developers. Individuals are expected to own projects from start to finish including requirement review, algorithm development, graphical interface development, testing, and software releases. Team sizes for specific projects range from one to three members depending on complexity and schedule, so each team member plays a crucial role in project completion.


This position can be located in Austin - Texas, Nashua - New Hampshire or Ottawa - Canada.

Responsibilities


• Design, implement, test and release Windows-based software to interface with Skyworks' clocks and oscillators for both customers and engineers in the lab
  • Develop rich APIs for underlying tool functionality: we develop API-first, and some projects do not even have a user interface component
  • Gather specifications, architect, document, code and test a software project from start to finish
  • Solve problems using standard design patterns, data structures, and object-oriented programing techniques
  • Troubleshoot system problems with customers and in our lab
  • Write documentation for user guides, algorithms, reference code, etc.
  • Bring-up and maintain firmware for evaluation boards to control the clock or oscillator and other components using I2C, SPI, and other serial interfaces

Requirements


• BS or MS in CE/CS, or related field
  • Experience developing software using an object-oriented language such as C#, Java, C++, Swift, or Objective-C
  • Experience developing graphical user interfaces (desktop, Web, or mobile)
  • Experience developing software for microcontrollers using C a plus
  • Experience with source code version control system such as Git
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Algebraically manipulate variables of various types by hand including complex numbers, rational numbers (fractions), integers, and matrices

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $85,900 - $164,600 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others. Employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan, and certain roles are also eligible for additional awards, including recognition and stock.
