Job Summary

SABIC is looking for a high energy, technically creative specialist to support high performance computing and data management programs across SABIC. The individual must have the ability to work seamlessly across multiple research centers and business units around the globe, and use various methods to transform raw data into useful data systems to enable business goals.

To succeed in this position, the individual should have strong analytical skills and the ability to combine data from different sources. Familiarity with several programming languages and knowledge of learning machine methods is a key requirement.


How You Can Be the Impact

(Job Responsibilities)

  • Participate in the design and implementation of multiple Linux-based HPC, Infrastructure and Parallel file system servers and clusters. Provide system administration support for Linux-based HPC, Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems, Infrastructure and Parallel file systems servers and clusters.

  • Build, configure, and maintain multiple RAID controllers and disk enclosures systems. Deploy and maintain high-speed cluster fabrics for compute and storage networks.

  • Monitor and conduct installations of software releases, patches of the operating system, and third-party utilities with emphasis on overall system security.

  • Software Refactoring to optimize performance for emerging system architectures.

  • Emerging Hardware Exploration: Supporting the evaluation of emerging hardware for potential deployment

  • Analyze and organize raw data. Build data systems and pipelines, maintain an optimal data pipeline architecture. Combine raw information from different sources. Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability. Identify opportunities for data acquisition. Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling

  • High performance data analytics: Technical support for projects that span the range of computational disciplines that require data analytical tools and methods. Key areas to be supported include: Computational chemistry and material science, computational fluid dynamics, signal/image processing, computational electromagnetics, data science and analytics


What Matters to SABIC

(Job Requirements)

  • Degree in Computer Science, IT or similar field and minimum of 15 years of relevant experience

  • 10+ years’ experience with Linux on large scale HPC systems. Significant experience with Linux system administration in support of several independent but inter-related systems and software packages, and knowledge of clusters, container technologies, Kubernetes, and other virtualization machine software environments.

  • 10+ years’ extensive knowledge of HPC and parallel programming techniques (e.g. Intel MPI, OpenMPI), in multiple physical science domains using different schedulers (Slurm, Toque, PBS etc). Experience with local, parallel and distributed file systems, such as, XFS, ZFS, GPFS, Lustre, and with NAS platforms.

  • 8+ years’ experience to evaluate, develop, and implement emerging solutions and/or techniques that enhance HPC application I/O performance and optimize data storage. Deploy and maintain high-speed cluster fabrics for compute and storage networks.

  • 8+ years’ experience Expertise in the use of various programming languages used in scientific high-performance computing (FORTRAN, C/C++, Perl, Python), scientific visualization software and tools, and mesh generation software (e.g. Ansys, StarCCM+)

  • 8+ years’ of technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques using different tools (JMP, Aspen, R, Python etc)

  • 8+ years’ of Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Java and Python)

  • 8+ years’ of Hands-on experience with SQL database design

  • Demonstrated numerical and analytical skills
