The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a Senior Telecommunications Engineering Technician to support our government customer located in Maui, HI.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain the communications infrastructure across the MSSC at various sites.
  • Circuit Actions: Initiate and submit required requests for service and process Telecommunication Service Requests (TSRs) and Telecommunication Service Orders (TSOs) in support of the communications requirements for the site. Maintain circuit information and perform the limited duties of a Node Site Coordinator (NSC). Respond to the Network Operations and Security Centers (NOSCs), provide limited touch maintenance on DISN equipment, and assist DISN elements. Restore circuit outages and report communication outages. Coordinate with appropriate TCF and network managers to isolate and restore communication outages/faults for all communication circuits. Manage circuit tracking records on a locally developed form or database to include logging outages, tracking restoral times, maintaining circuit diagrams, and performing trend analysis. Evaluate all submitted network technical solutions. Install additional circuits and cable drops to accommodate increased customer load.
  • Tech Control: Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and other procedures required of a Technical Control/Patch and Test Facility. Install, troubleshoot, change (add/relocate/remove), maintain, calibrate, repair, and perform PMIs on all switching equipment and power distribution systems, public address systems, alerting systems, data transmitting systems, base cable plant, and premise wiring. Maintain and perform changes on all equipment to keep operational IAW manufacturers guidance and industry standards. Evaluate network equipment and capabilities and make recommendations to the Government on needed infrastructure upgrades. When considering the addition of new hardware, analyze the impact on bandwidth utilization and overall network performance throughout the planning and implementation.
  • Internal & External Cable Plant: Install, maintain, and repair all internal & external copper and fiber optic cabling, for effective operation of workstations and systems. Document any operations and maintenance actions. Do not perform unauthorized modifications. New cable installations will not exceed 10 percent of existing cable runs per building annually unless separately negotiated. Update and maintain all engineering drawings, maps, and tables.
  • Spectrum Management: Identify a primary and alternate ISM to organize and facilitate the spectrum management program and notify the Frequency Management Office (FMO) or cognizant Service Spectrum Management Office (SMO). Review program and appointments annually.
  • Frequency Management: Identify a primary and alternate Frequency Management POC to coordinate frequency issues/actions with the host base ISM. Perform ISM using activity responsibilities and manage frequencies. Coordinate with impacted organizations in frequency resolution. Ensure all radio frequency (RF) emitting devices do not interfere with mission requirements.
  • Maintain and administer an integrated data management system for collection, control, publishing and delivery of all program documents. The data management system shall include but not be limited to the following types of documents: Standardized Switch/Router Configurations, Network Topology Diagram, IP Address Management, Virtual LAN Management, TCNO Database, AFNetOps Compliance Tracker, and STIG Compliance Checklists. Provide the government with electronic access to this data, including access to printable reports. Documentation shall also include equipment listing with serial/model numbers and manufacturer specifications.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Preferred: BA/BS in relevant field OR may substitute degree for additional years' work experience.
  • Must be IAT-3 certified in at least one baseline certification: CASP+ CE; CCNP Security; CISA; CISSP (or Associate); GCED; GCIH; or CCSP.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 4yrs relevant experience

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have an active Top Secret/SCI clearance
