The Nebraska Information Analysis Center (NIAC) is looking for a motivated and dedicated crime analyst to join our team. The NIAC's mission is to collect, evaluate, analyze, and disseminate information and intelligence data regarding criminal and terrorist activity to federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies, other Fusion Centers and to the public and private entities as appropriate. In this specific position, you will work with local, state, federal, and tribal law enforcement to develop, analyze, and share criminal intelligence related to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) and Nebraska State Patrol mission set.
Hiring Rate of Position: $19.777 per hour (Effective 07-01-2023 this will increase to $20.766 per hour)
This position must be able to identify, collect, analyze, assess, and present data in written, statistical and analytical products, as well as oral briefings. Identify intelligence gaps. Provide case support, to include deconfliction documentation and analysis, time lines, linkage diagrams, prioritized target packages, and localized activity trends. Must be able to input data into national databases as required by HIDTA. Develop and maintain effective liaison with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to exchange crime information. Attend monthly intelligence meetings; and bi-annually, the HIDTA symposium.
REQUIRED: Associate Arts degree in criminal justice, research/statistical methods, program evaluation, or related quantitative analysis field, and one year experience performing technical (non-clerical) support work or analytical work, to include collecting and analyzing data and preparing reports and summaries. Additional years of experience in the fields listed above may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED: A four-year college degree with five years of analytical or criminal justice experience. Ability to develop and present analytic briefings is preferred. Experience in grant management is helpful. Experience developing and executing an overarching plan is preferred.
OTHER: Successful applicant will need to qualify and maintain a SECRET clearance - must be a US Citizen either through birth or naturalization. Applicant must successfully complete an extensive background screening prior to being employed, which includes completion of a Personal History Questionnaire. Selection process will include an interview.
Knowledge of analytical writing, and presentation development for senior leaders; open source research; statistical programs and languages; social media platforms; standards governing the mission and/or programs of the State Patrol.
Skills in: Public speaking; report writing; leading others to complete a mission; fluent with Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, and Power-Point); developing briefings on specific topics.
Ability to: communicate and interact in person, virtual meetings, by telephone, email, and group chat to exchange factual information, investigative research findings and conclusions, and maintain cooperative work relationships; apply methods and instructions pertinent to the collections, analysis, and dissemination/presentation of date; identify trends and activities statewide and regional areas to target for enforcement actions; create and summarize data into charts, time lines, graphs, tables, and narrative reports.
