We are hiring staff for our SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS for elementary, middle, and high school aged kids. The title for this position is YOUTH DEVELOPMENT STAFF.
A part time position will entail 20-25 hours of work per week on a regular recurring weekly schedule. The regular schedule for this part-time position is Monday through Friday, roughly on either A Shift (7:00 - 12:45) or B Shift (12:15 - 6:00). Starting pay is $14.50/hour.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT STAFF: Under the supervision of the Unit Director, Youth Development Staff have the responsibility of providing daily programs, services and activities for Boys & Girls Club members ages 5 -18. These services and activities are consistent with the organization's youth development mission, and Youth Development Staff are responsible for developing positive, productive relationships with Club members through guided activities and programs, academic support, and mentorship.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia is hiring part time Youth Development Staff at the following Summer Camp Locations:
Shawsville Middle School
Christiansburg Middle School
Eastern Montgomery High School
Eastern Montgomery Elementary School
Andrew Lewis Middle School serving East Salem Elementary School, GW Carver Elementary School and Andrew Lewis Middle School
Burlington Elementary School
Vinton Baptist Church
9th St. SE Roanoke City
Rocky Mount Elementary School
Lee M. Waid Elementary School
The ideal candidate must enjoy working with youth to help them achieve academic success, learn to be kind and helpful in the community, and promote a healthy lifestyle. Candidates must be available Monday through Friday throughout the entire summer. Candidates must pass a state and federal background check.
The pay for this position is $14.50 per hour. As a staff member at Boys & Girls Club you can expect a regular and reliable schedule with direct oversight and interaction with young people in our community. The ideal candidate will be confident, self-sufficient, and prepared to set a good example for young people. Previous youth development experience preferred, but not required. Excellent candidates include those who are interested in or have had experience in childcare, day care, youth groups, babysitting, kid's programs, mentoring programs, or other child/kid and youth focused activities. High school diploma or GED required.
