BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB
This position has overall responsibility for the operation of campus activities, facilities and support systems, supervision of staff, safety needs of the clients, executing clinical schedule and maintaining a therapeutic environment. This position works closely with the shift Nurses to ensure all medical needs of the clients are met, any mandatory reports and notifications are completed, and supervises Youth Service Workers and other support staff to implement the program schedule.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Working in concert with nursing personnel, overall responsible for the operation of the PRTF during their shift.
Ensures shift is properly staffed and meets ratio requirements.
Supervises meals, dressing and personal hygiene, monitors cleaning of room and chore and life tactical skills.
Provides structure, discipline, and security in meeting the needs of the clients.
Serves as a role model and source of feedback to the clients.
Always supervises and monitors the clients. During sleeping hours, checking clients every 15 minutes.
Intervenes in crisis situations using the approved Mandt system.
Reports to work at scheduled times and remains on duty until released.
Assures clients rights are protected.
Administers prescribed medication; documents and observes its effects.
Maintains overall cleanliness of the facility.
Monitors client's room and chores daily.
Maintains cleanliness at upper and lower staff offices daily.
May be assigned cleaning or maintenance duties during certain times (especially during night shift).
Attends chapel when it is scheduled for client and is involved in the spiritual life serving as an adult role model.
Documents each significant observation in each client file.
Promotes and perpetuates an environment that is supportive of Therapy in Christ.
Provides leadership in the milieu.
Implements the program schedule as created by the Director of Clinical Services.
Liaisons with Clinical Service Director as required if program/client services require changes.
Liaisons, or ensure contact is made, with “on-call” personnel as required to report Critical or Serious Occurrences.
Reviews the staff work schedule and coordinates staff fill-in as needed with the Nursing staff and Program Director.
Monitors shift summary documentation for each shift, to ensure it is thorough and complete.
Facilitates the daily shift change meetings.
Capable of being on call for emergency transportation.
Participates in the patient's daily planning routine.
Implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives as required. Follows and adheres to all pertinent Saint Francis Ministries Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), rules, personnel policies and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state and local rules, statutes, regulations, and all term of the contract between Saint Francis Ministries and DFPS.
Reports unusual incidents through appropriate Risk Management, clinical and safety channels.
Ensures clients' rights are protected. Makes sure all clients have received their rights and maintains a signed copy in each resident file.
Is knowledgeable of and follows all safety procedures.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Other duties as assigned.
Will participate in a minimum of 40 hours in-service education per year.
Requirements:MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma/GED.
Bachelors in Human Sciences Preferred
Must be 21 years of age.
Must pass a drug screen and TB Skin Test.
FBI Fingerprint Check.
Submit to a Criminal History and DFPS History Check.
Pass a Centralized Background Check through the Texas Health and Human Services Eligibility and any background checks deemed to be necessary.
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Lifting requirements of 50 lbs.

Basic understanding of adolescent development, treatment and defense mechanisms.
Working knowledge of adolescent counseling techniques, both individual and group.
Sensitive to the needs of clients and their families.
Understands adolescent therapeutic techniques and how this impacts the client.
Independent discretion/decision making within the scope and responsibility of the position.
Handles multiple priorities.
