Founded in 1982 to address the need of at-risk youth, today CCM provides comprehensive services in six major core areas: 1) Mental health and Substance Abuse; 2) Education and Youth Development; 3) Preventative Services for Youth and Families; 4) Health-Related Services; 5) Supportive and Community Housing, and 6) HIV/AIDS Services.

We are hiring a part-time cook for Ruby's Place and Beverly's Place.

About Ruby's Place

Located in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, Ruby’s Place is CCM’s third permanent supportive housing facility, and is our most comprehensive housing facility to date. Serving formerly homeless individuals, this building is named in honor of Ruby Sargent, the mother of CCM’s Founder, President and CEO Emory X Brooks. Composed of 72 units, Ruby’s Place was created to provide stabilization and services designed to specifically improve the physical, social and emotional, intellectual and economic well-being of its residents. About Beverly's Place

Beverly's Place is a 72-unit program located in the East New York/ Brownsville area of Brooklyn designed to provide permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless persons with persistent mental illness and/ or substance misuse histories as well as low-income New Yorkers.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED/ Food Handler Certificate/ 3 years of work experience as a cook preferred

Principal Responsibilities

The Cook is responsible for the planning and preparation of meals for the client population and assists the food service manager in the overall operation of food services where applicable. The cook will prepare meals for approximately 70 clients twice a week. The cook will report to the Program Director.

1. Prepare bulk quantities of food, maintain portion control and arrange food in an appetizing manner.
2. Assist in the planning of menus.
3. Assist in maintaining sanitary conditions and compliance with applicable health department rules and regulations including certificates for food handlers.
4. Assist in the inventory of foodstuffs, utensils, and supplies.
5. Confirm that food delivery invoices are accurate.
6. Supervise and train clients in food preparation in applicable programs.
7. Give cooking instruction for the clients.
8. Liaison with the Food and Health Educator to monitor clients’ health and weight.
