Job description
This position is responsible for assisting the Director and Assistant Director of Safety & Security of The Hershey Lodge in providing a safe and secure environment for Lodge employees and guests. This position is also responsible for creating innovative methods for continuous improvement and consistency amongst the security officers. Additional assignments and administrative support will be assigned by the Director and will include duties such as maintaining inventory, conducting employee orientation and maintaining emergency checklists. This position is also responsible for supervising numerous personnel, coordinating training for the Security Personnel. Responsible for daily review of daily log entries and may review incident reports generated and submitted by Security Officers. Responsible for overseeing security operations.
This position may provide care, supervision, guidance, or control of children or may have regular, ongoing contact with children that is integral to the responsibilities of the position. As a result, in accordance with Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law, newly hired candidates are required to obtain the following clearances: a report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse), and Fingerprint-based federal criminal history submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent (FBI). Completed clearances are required to be submitted prior to starting employment.
Job Functions (Items marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this position):
- Ensures officers are properly trained by following the established training program for security staff*
- Oversees security personnel and ensures all assigned duties are effectively and professionally performed. Coach, mentor and develop Safety & Security direct reports (both full time and part time) Provide supervision of security officers*
- Reviews all initial incident, crime and accident reports. Ensures that follow up investigations are conducted as needed. Ensures all reports are accurate and legible. Takes corrective action as needed.
- May oversee Lodge wide security programs
- Assists with the maintaining of emergency checklists (fire extinguishers, first aid kits, AED checks etc.)
- Coordinates with other departments as needed on any activities that will take place after regular business hours.
- Reviews weekly work schedules including authorizations of all vacations, and personal request for leave on a consistent basis.
- Provides the Director and Assistant Director with accurate information concerning all officer related issues including training needs, suggested training topics and classes.*
- Must be knowledgeable of HE&R's Emergency Management Programs
- Responds to any needs relating to safety and security of our guests, visitors or employees*
- Reports hazards and makes observations on issues which affect the safety and security of our guests, employees and visitors.
- Maintains records and writes detailed reports in accordance with Safety and Security Department Standard Operating Procedures.
- Adheres to and enforces company policies and procedures. Follows the guidelines established and outlined in the Department's Standard Operating Procedures. This applies to the service of alcohol, securing restricted areas and key control.*
- Provide assistance as directed by the Night Manager, Manager on Duty and Night Auditor
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Minimum of 2 years of Safety and Security or related experience.
- Must have a valid Drivers' License
- Completion of high school or GED
Additional Qualifications:
- Hospitality/Tourism experience preferred
- Associate’s degree preferred
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), problem solving and decision making skills.
- Experience with electronic security and surveillance systems to include CCTV.
- Must be able to effectively interact with a diverse population as well as the general public.
