Job description
The VS&R SysAdmin/Infrastructure Engineer will support the FAA in modernizing air traffic control voice communications and will provide domain and technical expertise in a hands-on lab environment for hardware, servers, systems, networks and operating systems for the following activities:
Work at the Linux command line, installing, configuring, and maintaining enterprise Linux server hardware and network hardware (switches/routers)- Perform operating system-level virtualization or application-level virtualization over multiple network resources so that software applications can run in isolated user spaces called containers
- Configure and perform automatic device provisioning (e.g., use of tools such as Ansible, API-driven, etc.)
- Perform operating system security hardening
- Maintain/Sustain, Upgrade, and Tech Refresh existing lab servers, systems and networks
- Troubleshoot existing hardware, servers, lab networks
The candidate should possess several of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining enterprise Linux server hardware and network hardware (switches/routers)
- Deep Linux administration experience
- Strong virtualization and containerization experience
- Automatic device provisioning experience (e.g., Ansible, API-driven, etc.)
- Operating system security hardening experience
- Understanding of computer system interfaces including Analog, Electrical, Digital, VoIP
- Understanding of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model, including the 7 layers that computer systems use to communicate over a network.
- Understanding of communications systems/networks and voice/data communications designs
- Experience with hardware testing, verification, validation, including failure and malfunction analysis
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal communications skills
- Ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks within expected schedule to complete
- Flexible/easily adaptable within a dynamic work environment
- Customer-service and goal oriented
Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package for employees.
