The Reemployment Assistance Division (formerly unemployment insurance) is looking for a motivated professional to work as a Tax Program Representative. This position involves professional work in investigations and enforcement of the state Reemployment Assistance program in accordance with state law, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. This includes but is not limited to establishing new employer accounts, obtaining quarterly wage reports and taxes due. It will include investigating work and earning discrepancies and tips/leads. This will require communication with employers, obtain necessary information to complete reviews for accuracy. This position may also include collection processes to ensure recovery of payments due. This is a fast-paced working environment which requires self-motivation and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

A bachelors degree is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:

Knowledge of:

  • principles and procedures of accounting;
  • business management practices;
  • collection techniques;
  • computer and software applications.

Ability to:

  • interpret and apply information, laws, and rule;
  • possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to include grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
  • communicate information clearly and concisely;
  • deal tactfully with others;
  • be comfortable working with numbers and compare figures accurately;
  • analyze and interpret financial records;
  • apply critical thinking in complex situations;
  • formulate logical and reasonable conclusions from available information;
  • work independently;
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public;
  • have attention to detail.

Minimal travel required.

This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
