Director V (Deputy Commissioner)
This position reports directly to the Commissioner of Insurance and performs highly advanced managerial work as the Deputy Commissioner for Information Technology. Oversees the operations of the Information Technology Division offices including the Development, Agency Operations, Customer Support, Business Services, and the Information Security Office. Work is performed under minimal direction with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
This position:
- Directs the staff, responsibilities, and activities of the Information Technology Division.
- Works with executive staff to accomplish agency goals consistent with TDI’s strategic plan.
- Develops the information resources strategic plan, goals, and objectives for the agency.
- Develops and implements automation policy, reviews guidelines, procedures, rules, and regulations associated with the use and security of information resources and monitors compliance.
- Reports regularly to the Commissioner regarding division activities, accomplishments, goals, strategies, performance, and issues.
- Develops, oversees, and coordinates policies and procedures for the agency voice and data infrastructure, custom application development, security, disaster recovery, technology, purchasing and service provision to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
- Prepares and evaluates division budget requests.
This position requires:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in business, public administration, management, or in a field related to the position.
- This position requires five years of experience as an executive in the administration of business or government or as a practicing attorney with two of the five years consisting of experience related to the duties of the position.

This position may be eligible for hybrid telecommuting. Employees must have a secure, dedicated workspace with Internet service, ability to maintain a reliable consistent work schedule, and be available for weekly meetings and group collaboration via Microsoft Teams and other applications during regular business hours.

- Build and foster collaboration with and among division employees, agency staff, the public, the insurance industry, and elected officials.
