The Technical Expert (TE) I is the in-house content expert for an assigned group of grantees and, in collaboration with other TEs and project leadership, responsible for ensuring the design and delivery of all technical assistance (TA) and deliverables for JBS projects. The TE I coaches, and guides staff in the support and implementation of effective, high-quality TA and communicates with the JBS client per the established project guidelines.
Fundamental Requirement: The TE I must have a passionate commitment to consumer-centric design and delivery of TA and an understanding of and commitment to the project's model of TA as a strengths-based, continuous process that supports each grantee throughout its journey.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Play central role in the planning and delivery of the project, including site visits, targeted TA, and offsite TA to health centers.
- Help to identify issues that impact multiple health centers and design long-term, overall TA strategies for grantees.
- Oversee the seamless logistical planning and execution of technical assistance events (e.g., virtual coaching calls, virtual symposium). Participate in and may lead TA content development and research.
- Work with health center staff to establish and maintain productive working relationships.
- Develop content expertise and project management experience related to planning and monitoring multiple concurrent TA events, budgeting and budget management, ensuring and maintaining good client relationships, and tracking/documenting TA activities.
- Facilitate online surveys and information requests from health centers and clients, draft and distribute information disseminated via listserv, and develop and maintain databases.
- Develop standard operating procedures and review technical content for compliance as requested.
Minimum job qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
Language: English Fluency (oral and written)
Experience: At least 10 years of relevant work experience. Demonstrated applied expertise in public health, including maternal health.
Knowledge: Experience in general Public Health topics. Content Knowledge of current and emerging issues for assigned program areas. Strengths-based approach to delivering TA and to working with others.
Skills: Interacts well with others in a positive, courteous, and professional manner; functions well as a member of a team and is also able to work independently and without extensive supervision and follows chain of command to address personnel or management concerns. Honors, respects, and celebrates cultural differences. Effective, clear, and professional writing and oral communication skills. Attention to detail.
Location: North Bethesda, Maryland; or remote location is negotiable
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Master’s degree or higher
Knowledge: Content knowledge of health center operations
Language: Fluency in a language other than English
Experience: Consulting experience
