Job Purpose / Summarize:


To plan and advise daily activities to test technicians. Will also test, make adjustments on, and troubleshoot rail vehicles and/or assemblies prior to product delivery to the end customer. To support functional as well as project objectives in regard to quality, schedule, cost and customer requirements. This position is intended to secure supervision of technicians working afternoon & weekend shifts as required to maintain schedules.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible to order test supplies for daily activities, and verify/sign timesheets of technicians.
  • Demonstrate good working knowledge and experience with the use of computers, digital multi-meters, chart recorders, oscilloscopes, pneumatic/hydraulic gauges and various other test equipment is required.
  • Work directly with manufacturing, scheduling, engineering, quality, customer, and supplier representatives.
  • Understand and apply all applicable ALSTOM Safety Procedures located on the PRISMA database and make sure they are followed by employees.
  • Assist in the design and assembly of some test equipment for various programs/contracts.
  • Insure timely completion of products under test.
  • Short term travel (one to two weeks) to various supplier and customer sites may be necessary to support various types of field tests.
  • Generate and/or update Test Procedures working with engineering and suppliers.
  • Manage and responsible for the test budget on each project.
  • Manage the learning curves and optimize the test hours on each project.
  • Any and all other responsibilities, in addition to those mentioned above, as assigned by supervisor/manager. Any interpretation/clarification with responsibilities above will be settled by the supervisor/manager. This list of responsibilities is not all inclusive and may change, be added to or deleted from at any time.
  • List the most challenging components or concerns to be solved and indicate why this is so.

Challenges:

1 Delivery of cars/equipment on time, with no unlogged faults or failures.

2 Insure proper training of new, lower level technicians in the group.

3 Communication of problems using Quality Improvement Program (QIP's)


Requirements:


Experience – 1 year or greater in a supervisory role

Education – Associate degree in electrical field or equivalent experience

Skills – Electrical experience in automotive/residential, computer software related troubleshooting and repair, and very good interpersonal/communication skills

Knowledge – Integrated system troubleshooting and repair background.
