POSITION SUMMARY:
Assume responsibility for assisting with coordinating and supervising the school based implementation and administration of statewide and local testing programs. Trains staff to administer statewide and local testing programs. Effectively completes assigned day-to-day responsibilities needed to ensure that testing operates smoothly. Assume responsibility for coordinating school wide attendance plans. May also assist with day-to-day building administration that is focused on student growth as well as the safety and welfare of students, staff, volunteers, and activities. Maintains professional relationships with staff, administrators, parents and students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Have completed 2 years of college (associates and/or bachelor degree preferred).
- Thorough knowledge of rules and regulations regarding the administration of standardized tests in Virginia Public Schools.
- Experience working with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Experience working with diverse learning/testing needs and with children that may benefit from alternative learning/testing models is preferred.
- Familiarity with racial equity and inclusion frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities to foster professional relationships and express and/or exchange ideas.
- Considerable knowledge of state and local testing requirements.
- Considerable knowledge of the proper conditions, practices and procedures for testing.
- Considerable knowledge of the ethical guidelines applicable to the position as outlined by professional organizations and/or federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
- Ability to prepare staff for statewide testing programs. Including the ability to learn new testing programs and subsequently provide training for staff.
- Proficiency in the use of a variety of office equipment and technology with experience using Microsoft Office, email, Google and information system applications.
- Proficiency in public speaking and written communication to express and/or exchange ideas.
- Emotionally mature, objective, and sensitive to people and their concerns. Able to handle responsibility, work independently, and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, coaches, families, administration and co-workers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates the administration and scoring of year-round state assessment programs (SOL, MAP), etc.
- Plans and implements the testing schedule at the designated middle school.
- Ensures adherence to established policies, procedures and standards.
- Provides in-services to teachers in the online testing process.
- Uploads student data and constructs online test sessions prior to and during testing.
- Assists in the management of the online testing process during the testing window.
- Tracks data through EIMS after testing.
- Effectively communicates guidelines related to test administration and the appropriate use of test results to various groups such as school administrators.
- Oversees ordering of test materials for the school through division testing coordinator.
- Coordinates repacking and shipment of materials to DDOT through division testing coordinator.
- Maintains security of testing materials and implements policies and practices to prevent potential breaches in security.
- Coordinates, develops and prepares training materials for each test administration.
- Responds to school administrators about assessment results and testing procedures.
- Provides technical assistance to school staff regarding test administration.
- Attends test administration training provided by the state and assists in development of local procedures to ensure compliance with all state mandates and procedures related to testing.
- Works closely with the Technology Department to ensure regular technology updates are conducted to support online testing software.
- Works closely with the Technology Department with set up of computer labs prior to testing.
- Works closely with department leaders from Special Education and ESL to maintain accurate and up-to-date records for students with test accommodations.
- Serves a lead role in developing user-friendly reports to assist central office administrators, school level administrators and teachers with analysis and interpretation of assessment results.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Communicate with students and families in a proactive way to encourage school attendance.
- Follow HCPS’s truancy procedures by mailing letters, making phone calls and referring families to the Interagency Truancy Meeting (ITM) as outlined in our handbook.
- Conferences and/or home visits to support families in the truancy process.
- Maintains database of attendance interventions and contacts.
- Follows appropriate safety procedures and properly maintains equipment.
- Responds to telephone, email and in-person requests, inquiries and questions in a professional, polite and responsive manner.
- Demonstrates good attendance and punctuality.
- Attends all required meetings.
- Maintains confidentiality in all matters.
- Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities. Respects the worth, dignity and individual differences of others.
- Complies with and supports school division policies, regulations and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or the Assistant Principal.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Light work, lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. Regular travel throughout the school and effectively interact with students, staff, and community members. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; and subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Regular contact with staff members and students is required. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

administrative regulations on the evaluation of administrative personnel.
