Job Type: Full Time, SCA Position, Night Shift w/Shift Differential Pay

Location: Carlsbad, New Mexico 88220

BASIC FUNCTION
Perform basic System Operator Duties to support an IT Program for the USDOE TRANSCOM Program. TRANSCOM consists of multiple custom applications and interfaces and a user help desk that supports users 24-7. This position is responsible for monitoring shipments of radioactive material for the USDOE and providing first tier help desk support for Users.

Responsibilities

• Monitor shipments using the TRANSCOM System, a custom software Web application.
• Perform troubleshooting on all system components to ensure the system remains available to users. Troubleshoot to mitigate, report failures.
• Follow all procedures, shipment checklists, log entries for all shipment events, help desk support and technical system problems.
• Follow DOE and NRC security guidelines when providing user support and at all times.
• Perform application level and system testing as requested.
• Specific Project Duties as may be assigned
• Position requires shift flexibility to support a 24x7 operation 365 days a year

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum H.S. Diploma or G.E.D.
• Experience working on a help desk or providing customer support.
• Proficiency in common Windows Workstation level hardware and software including: Microsoft office suites (Word, Excel, Power Point), and Adobe suite application.
• Basic Computer knowledge including: Windows, web applications, SSL, hardware/software troubleshooting and installation, understanding network terminology
• Pass a pre-employment drug test and continued random drug test
• Pass a pre-employment Aleut background check
• Pass a post-employment Federal criminal background and credit investigation; position requires a federal personal identification verification HSPD12 Badge.

Preferred Skills

• AS or BS degree computer science, business or related discipline
• Ability to multi-task with ease
• Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to problem solve under duress
