Job description
The Transplanter is responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of materials and products in the critical first phase of plant production. The quality of the finished product depends heavily on the level of attention to detail expended in the seeding, germination, and transplanting phase.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Moves carts in and out of the germination room
- Transfers plug from the plug production area to the transplant line
- Trim's mint in the nursery and plug production areas for optimal plant growth
- Transplants plug into propagation trays
- Plants mint and rosemary cuttings on a weekly basis
- Assists with cleanup duties throughout the day
- Operates soil transplanting equipment by ensuring proper stages of the line are adequately stocked
- Loads trays onto tables and carts as needed
- Lifts and moves nursery tables with a co-worker using safe lifting techniques
- Transports loaded and empty carts to/from the North warehouse (approximately 500 feet away)
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor, Greenhouse General Manager, or other members of the management
- Reports any departmental discrepancies or problems to the Operations Manager
- Adheres to all Food & Environmental Safety guidelines
- Responsible for notifying the Greenhouse Operations Supervisor & General Manager of observed safety concerns
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Experience: 1- year experience working in a Greenhouse environment or growing organic herbs and microgreens, knowledgeable of primary organic herbs production including harvest and post-harvest.
- Language Fluency: No specific language requirements; bi-lingual English/Spanish fluency preferred.
