The Unit Manager oversees the care management of a population of patients within an assigned area, unit or clinical function. The position conducts the nursing process – assessment, planning implementation and evaluation – under the scope of the State’s Nurse Practice Act of Registered Nurse licensure. The position coordinates resource utilization, timely and appropriate care interventions, and interdisciplinary communication to enhance patient and family satisfaction, adherence to center’s clinical systems and regulatory compliance. • Flexes hours when necessary to accommodate staff education; to address patient care issues; and to meet with family members unavailable during routine shift hours.

• Participates in weekend clinical coverage and “on call” rotation ensuring continuity of patient care, staff supervision and availability of nursing leadership to families and visitors. Clinical Systems

• Coordinates nursing care with other healthcare disciplines and assists in integrating services across the continuum of healthcare.

• Promotes nursing process and critical thinking in nursing care delivery.

• Ensures patients’ rights, safety, and choices are safeguarded.

• Ensure patient have needed supplies and equipment to properly manage care.

• Participates in clinical risk identification, strategy planning, and risk reduction.

• Makes daily rounds and spot checks documentation accuracy and completeness on new admissions, patients with change in condition, patients triggering occurrence investigations, and patients to be discharged.

• Visits each newly admitted patient as soon as possible upon arrival, validating accuracy of essentials audit and implementation of risk reducing measures.

• Oversees and evaluates systems to plan, promote, develop, assess, interpret, validate and evaluate the implementation of clinical programs, policies, procedures and forms.

• Oversees and evaluates systems for patient and staff data collection, information systems, and processes to support the practice of nursing and care delivery.

• Oversees and evaluates systems for discharge planning and communication to be released with patient.

• Facilitates and participates in occurrence investigation ensuring timely and accurate reporting to nursing administration.

• Ensures staff competency for emergency response and clinical care delivery.

• Ensures infection control standards and biohazard waste procedures are followed. Personnel Development • Participates in the recruitment, selection and retention of personnel.

• Conducts education sessions, unit or functional area team meetings, and competency validation.

• Evaluates performance of direct report personnel.

• Assures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing and continuing professional development for personnel.

• Assures accuracy of the midnight census through understanding and education of the automated clinical system.

Nurse Requirements:

• State Licensed RN
• Valid Identification
• COVID 19 Vaccination or Exemption
• Comfortable using a computer.

Experience:

• Prior experience in long term care is preferred.
• Prior experience with Infection Control is preferred.
• Prior experience supervising is preferred
