We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Unix and Storage team at Zions Bancorporation. The Unix and Storage team manages enterprise servers and storage devices. We provide key services that our applications and customers depend on and support operating systems including AIX, Solaris and RHEL.

The Systems Engineer will:
Support server provisioning, maintenance, troubleshooting and decommissioning
Implement system upgrades and modifications, including planning, testing, scheduling, and coordination
Ensure that change management and defined security procedures for all assigned systems are executed in accordance with organizational standards
Mitigate risk through vulnerability remediation efforts
Improve our server environment through automation and standardization
Participate in an on-call rotation supporting Unix and Linux servers

Technical Experience and Qualifications

4+ years' experience with Linux or Unix systems engineering in a large-scale environment
Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networks and topology
Advanced hardware and OS troubleshooting skills
Scripting or automation experience
Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work with leadership, team peers, and cross-functional groups
Experience with container or cloud technologies would be a plus

Knowledge in one or more of the following is a plus:
Experience with and exposure to cloud ready and cloud native contexts, both using on-prem technologies (e.g., OpenShift) as well as public cloud service (e.g., Azure, AWS, IBM, GCP)
Experience with CI/CD (e.g., Azure Devops Pipelines, Jenkins, GitLab)
Google Cloud Platform (GCP Experience)
Agile development methodologies (e.g., SAFe, Kanban, Scrum)
Experience managing complex customer facing platforms, processes, and tools. Strong working knowledge of financial/banking systems preferred.

A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.

Location: This position has a hybrid work from home schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office at the Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.

The Zions Technology Center is a 400,000-square-foot technology campus in Midvale, Utah. Located on the former Sharon Steel Mill superfund site, the sustainably built campus will be the company’s primary technology and operations center.
