Summary of Position
Unfit Laborer will be under general supervision, assists Unfit Technicians by safely preparing vehicles for custom unfitting. while ensuring compliance with Company policies/procedures including safety and environmental regulations.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Removal and reassembly of all vehicle trim, seats, door panels, headliner, flooring, bumpers, original equipment lighting, etc. as needed per installation or decommissioning equipment.
- Perform basic sub-assembly work, including but not limited to assembling product onto brackets, building harnesses, crimping wire terminals, mounting metal brackets, and assembling connectors, power distribution blocks/boards.
- Responsible for driving vehicles in and out of shop.
- Clean and prepare vehicle for upfit installation and final delivery to customer.
- Assist Upfit Technician with installation as needed.
- Responsible for moving, retrieving, storage and staging of product and materials for install.
- Perform vehicle pre-check and OEM required inspections upon vehicle delivery to site.
- Complete all required paperwork as needed.
- Responsible for following all safety rules and procedures, including use of all required Personal Protective Equipment.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area following basic housekeeping procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience
- High School diploma required.
- 1-year experience in the automotive industry preferred.
- Must have a valid driver license.
- Forklift experience mandatory.
- Ability to operate power tools and hand tools (drill, wrench, gauge, vise, etc.) as required.
- Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and sound judgement required.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, walking, climbing 10-12ft ladder, bending and stretching around under and inside vehicles, able to lay inside the trunk of vehicles for long periods of time, crawling, kneeling, awkward posturing. Manual dexterity is important for wiring, soldering, etc. Good hand and wrist flexibility, repetitive motions. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently without assistance and 30lbs on a regular basis. Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures. Must be able to work with different odors and fumes
