Upstream Process Development Scientist - Andover, MA
Job description
POSITION SUMMARY
- Conducts upstream process optimization, purification of biomolecules, and further processing to establish end-to-end bio-manufacturing. Nice-to-have knowledge/experience in downstream purification operations.
- Ensure effective, high-quality, timely, and appropriate documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks
- Presents data/ strategy to scientists and management in appropriate venues and technical meetings
- Apply technical skills and functional knowledge to projects/ assignments within own work group/project team independently and proactively
- Foster colleague engagement and model desired values and behaviors, including quality, integrity, respect, collaboration, and personal accountability
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with changing priorities
- Attention to detail and ability to effectively perform tasks as directed by the supervisor or according to an SOP
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct shake flask and bioreactor operations at multiple scales
- Conduct Microbial culture process and genetic engineering of microbes
- Optimize bioreactions and purify proteins/enzymes
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working in a collaborative environment
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- General microbiology and synthetic biochemistry experience
- Experience in the development and characterization of microbial fermentation and a good understanding of cell metabolism
- Familiarity with downstream biomolecule purification operations
PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform simple data analysis
- Occasional weekend work required.
Minimum education experience required:
- Degree in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Genetic Engineering, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a relevant field with 0-2 years of experience
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
